10 Tips to Look Thinner Instantly
POSTED : February 9th, 2016 | CATEGORY : Style How To

Here are 10 tips to look thinner. It is one of the most common style questions frequently asked by our clients. Here are some easy tricks of the eye that transform your shape instantly…

Tip #1 – Wear skinny high heels with pointy toes

Legs look slim and sexy in skirts paired with a shoe that has a tapered toe. A slender toe and thin heel work to extend the narrow silhouette of calves. Square-toe styles with a thick, chunky heel give the appearance of a shorter, bulky leg.

Tip #2 – Show some skin up top

Expose a bit with a V-neck. The open, upside-down triangle creates a high focal point-up and away from your midsection and gives the appearance of a longer, slimmer upper body. The more skin displayed between chin and chest, the more elegant your proportions will appear overall; wider V-necks visually balance broad hips and thighs too.

Tip #3 – Embrace shape wear (but only comfy ones!)

Get pieces that smooth bulges whilst lifting breasts and your butt. Look for ones that are comfortable and breathe. The slip versions or under-bra ones tend to work best.

Tip #4 – Use jewellery strategically

Long necklaces add length to short necks and take away the focus from the hips to the front and centre of the body. Mid-chest neckplates or big chandalier earrings say look at the face, not the middle. Sparkly cuffs, stacks of bangles and cocktail rings draw the eye to the wrists instead of the upper arms.

Tip #5 – Wear your hair up off your face

Pull your tresses into a ponytail high on the back of your head and then lightly tease the crown to bring out your bone structure and make you face look thinner.

Tip #6 – Match your shoe colour to your legs

Coordinate tones to elongate your bottom half. Wearing neutral hues with bare legs make the legs appear longer and leaner.

Tip #7 – Pick simple dark denim

Clean, streamlined jeans are the way to go. The most flattering stlyles are dark and feature unebellished pockets. Avoid extra details that catch the eye and give the illusion of bulk – think twice about tags, studs, or decorative extras. The leanest style of all – boot-cut and straight leg.

Tip #8 – Invest in underwear that fits

A professional bra fitter can determine if you, like most women, are wearing a wrong size band and too-small cups, which neither lift nor shape. Down below, too snug underwear and visible panty lines disrupt clean lines of top layers, contributing to bulk around the butt and hips. Get a smooth rear view with seamless French knickers or g-strings if you find them comfy.

Tip #9 Choose the right fabrics

‘Flat’ materials don’t add volume. Pick cotton, denim, silk or wool garbadine. Some fabrics actually help slim and shape. Try jersey, cashmere, fine cotton and anything with a touch of spandex. Wear bulky materials sparingly. Avoid crushed velvet, leather, suede, mohair, angora, brocade, taffeta, satin and flannel.

Tip #10 Love and accept who you are

Just own who you are no matter what size. Enjoy your body shape and accentuate your assets. P.S. No-one is as harsh a critic as you are. After all, character, strength and intelligence that makes style…
